As mentioned before, Riley is getting quite verbal. Now he enjoys making guttural sounds and the occasional whimper. The whimpering often has nothing to do with him being upset. He is just practicing for when he doesn't have our attention. The last two days, he has spent most of his time practicing "mama." He starts by forming his upper lip over his lower lip. He pauses to make sure everything is in the right place before concentrating on mouthing the words to himself. He then will often start adding his voice halfway through mouthing it as if he says to himself "yep everything is working." He then incessantly says "ma ma, a ma ma, ma ma." Sometimes he starts with a "ba," but he no longer starts with "da da" no matter how long I try to work with him. He seems to associate mama with Robin and it is great because I can ask him "who do you want to change your diapers, me or your mama?" Robin than responds with "who is your favorite parent?"
